"To Green or not to Green"

"Going green" means to pursue knowledge and practices that can lead to more environmentally friendly and ecologically responsible decisions and lifestyles, which can help protect the environment and sustain its natural resources for current and future generations.

On the Obama website, Obama plans within 10 years to save more oil than we currently import from the Middle East and Venezuela combined. Put 1 million Plug-In Hybrid cars that can get up to 150 miles per gallon, on the road by 2015, cars that we will work to make sure are built here in America. He wants to ensure that 10 percent of our electricity comes from renewable sources by 2012, and 25 percent by 2025. He also wants implement an economy-wide cap-and-trade program to reduce greenhouse gas emissions 80 percent by 2050. Under the Obama plan he wants to deploy the Cheapest, Cleanest, Fastest Energy Source. Weatherize One Million Homes Annually. This plan is going to develop and deploy clean coal technology, and prioritize the construction of the Alaska natural gas pipeline. Barack Obama and Joe Biden will make energy conservation a top priority and use their offices to communicate directly with the American people about the importance of reducing our energy consumption. Their agenda will provide the American people the tools they need to begin reducing their energy consumption and energy bills.

To Go Green or not to Green

Going Green is a phrase referring to individual action that a person can consciously take to curb harmful effects on the environment through consumer habits, behavior, and lifestyle. Barack Obama plans to deal with this “Green” issue by trying to stop our dependence upon foreign oil. He plans to set up a green energy sector which would not only benefit our earth, but create millions of jobs to individuals as well as youth programs. This plan will also extend the use of fuel efficient cars in order to help save this earth. They also state that they will help provide workers with the knowledge and skills they need in order to make this a more “green” economy. Obama states that “We are committed to getting at least 25 percent of our electricity from renewable sources by 2025.” He also stated that “we will help those who are hit hardest by high energy prices by increasing funding for low-income heating assistance and weatherization programs, and by providing energy assistance to help middle-class families make ends meet in this time of inflated energy prices.” By stating this, he completely shows his concern for the future of our country and shows how he supports the middle class and is most definitely willing to help them. I believe that this plan will work because by enforcing the use of fuel effiecient cars, this will help reduce green house gas emissions. By Angelique Robles

To Green or not to Green

"In recent days I have set before the American people an energy plan, the Lexington Project -- named for the town where Americans asserted their independence once before. And let it begin today with this commitment: In a world of hostile and unstable suppliers of oil, this nation will achieve strategic independence by 2025."
John McCain, June 25, 2008

John McCain has made the necessary choices - producing more power, pushing technology to help free our transportation sector from its use of foreign oil, cleaning up our air and addressing climate change, and ensuring that Americans have dependable energy sources. John McCain believes that the government to lift the restrictions for our own resources. He wants to lessen our domestic supplies reduce of trade deficits, which i due from oil imports. McCain proposes a agreement with the states to support this desicions. McCain also believes in promoting the use of natural gas since all the people are struggling to use gas, food and nessecities when its actually hurting us. McCain promotes going into the electrical generation instead of transportation fule all around the country.

"To Green or not to Green"

On the issue concerning energy and going green, John McCain has come up with a plan called "Lexington Project". He has stated that "In a world of hostile and unstable suppliers of oil, this nation will achieve strategic independence by 2025." John McCain believes in finding new and clean alternative sources of energy. John McCain Will Encourage The Market For Alternative, Low Carbon Fuels Such As Wind, Hydro And Solar Power. John McCain has said that he will put his administration on track to construct 45 New Nuclear Power Plants By 2030. With The Ultimate Goal Of Eventually Constructing 100 New Plants. It has been stated by the John McCain website that Nuclear power is a proven, zero-emission source of energy, and it is time we recommit to advancing our use of nuclear power. I believe that the Going Green issue has a chance of of becoming successful if, it is true that we need to find new sources of energy. But our last president has stated the same exact thing and i believe McCain is not too far from Bushes admistration.

H.W #1, Obama's Stances on Many Issues

HOMEWORK # 1
Immigration

There has been problems with immigration for decades. Number one being that "The number of undocumented immigrants in the country has increased more than 40 percent since 2000. Every year, more than a half-million people come illegally or illegally overstay their visas", our population is continuously increasing. The "immigration bureaucracy is broken and overwhelmed, forcing legal immigrants to wait years for applications." and also "despite a sevenfold increase in recent years, immigration raids only netted 3,600 arrests in 2006 and have placed all the burdens of a broken system onto immigrant families." Barack Obama and Joe Biden have said that in order to fix these problems by creating secure borders. Obama supports additional personnel, infrastructure and technology on the border and at our ports of entry.
Obama says that inorder to have less problems with the immigrations we need to "Remove Incentives to Enter Illegally."Obama and Biden will remove incentives to enter the country illegally by cracking down on employers who hire undocumented immigrants. They also support the plan to "Bring People Out of the Shadows" it is "a system that allows undocumented immigrants who are in good standing to pay a fine, learn English, and go to the back of the line for the opportunity to become citizens." Lastly Obama plans to work in Mexico, he belives that "we need to do more to promote economic development in Mexico to decrease illegal immigration." I agree with Obama's plans for a new country as well as the new policies in immigration, because our country shouldn't be banning immigrants from coming but accept them. and make more incentives to help them to be able to come to america legally. I especially agree with Obama's plan to " Bring People Out of the Shadows"

Barack Obama (Reproductive Choice)
Barack Obama supports the idea that women should have the right to have an abortion if they choose to do so. He states that “he has been a consistent champion of reproductive choice and will make preserving women's rights under Roe v. Wade a priority as President.” For those of us who are not aware, The Roe v. Wade decision declared that a woman could choose to have an abortion in earlier months of pregnancy without restriction, and with restrictions in later months, based on the right to privacy. I believe that women who may have been victims of unwanted sex should be the only ones allowed to have the choice of whether they want to have an abortion or not simply because they may have been raped or their life might have been threatened and so forth. I disagree with Obama in this case because I think that abortion options should only be open to those who are victims of unwanted sex like I mentioned before. Unlike those who are victims of unwanted sex, women who had the choice of using protection chose not to do so in that moment so the innocent individual developing inside them should not have to suffer the consequences. Family
“"...at the dawn of the 21st century we also have a collective responsibility to recommit ourselves to the dream; to strengthen that safety net, put the rungs back on that ladder to the middle-class, and give every family the chance that so many of our parents and grandparents had. This responsibility is one that's been missing from Washington for far too long -- a responsibility I intend to take very seriously as President."” — Barack Obama, Spartanburg, SC, June 15, 2007

Over the years American families have faced difficulty in tryign to pay their bills when tryign to balance their home life and work life. People tend to end up in poverty, and then their children won't be able to get an education. So, Obama decided to have a tax cut for the American working families and give a tax relief to about 150 million people. Also, raise minimum wages (to 9.50), expand the earned income tax credit, expand sick days, expand the family medical leave, expand high-quality afterschool opportunities and flexible work arrangements. He helps this middle class by giving them more of the benefit and i believe that this is a great way to help working families like my own. Obama also wants to make college more affordable and i believe that his is a big factor in my life because i will be going to college really soon and if im not able to pay for it, i can't go to college. He also wants to help families stay healthy and being healthy is the most important thing in life! I believe that Obama's Family Plan helps families by givign them soemthign to believe in and knowign that their lives will be changed.

-belinduh

In these days that we are living in, families are unable to stay together to live a normal life. The reason why is because of the economy and other issues that usually split apart a family. The Child and Dependent Care Tax Credit provides too little relief to families that struggle to afford child care expenses. Barack Obama and Joe Biden will reform the Child and Dependent Care Tax Credit by making it refundable and allowing low-income families to receive up to a 50 percent credit for their child care expenses. Barack Obama and Joe Biden are committed to signing universal health legislation by the end of their first term in office that ensures all Americans have high-quality, affordable health care coverage. Their plan will save a typical American family up to $2,500 every year on medical expenditures by providing affordable, comprehensive and portable health coverage. Barack Obama has re-introduced the Responsible Fatherhood and Healthy Families Act to remove some of the government penalties on married families, crack down on men avoiding child support payments, ensure that support payments go to families instead of state bureaucracies. I agree with all of Obama’s plan for the family because these are the main issues that families these days are going through.Obama plans toact on all of these topics as soon as he gets in office.

HOMEWORK # 2

Immigration
John McCain believes that the immigration system is broken, he says that he has a two step process to reform. John McCain's top immigration priority is to finish securing our borders in an expedited manner. Governors of border states will be required to certify that the border is secure. His second step is Comprehensive Immigration Initiatives for a Secure Nation. John McCain states that implement a secure, accurate, and reliable electronic employment verification system to ensure that individuals are screened for work eligibility in a real-time fashion. "John McCain will use this new system in conjunction with other Department of Homeland Security resources to identify and aggressively prosecute employers that continue to hire illegal immigrants." The situation addressing the undocumented immigrants, McCain says that "all undocumented individuals will be required to enroll in a program to resolve their status, this program will use background checks to identify criminal aliens for prosecution and deportation."
I believe that McCains methods are very similar to Obama, i definitely agree with McCain when he says that the remaing undocumented immigrants should learn english , pay taxes and fines and pass a citizenship course. Because our country is based on immigrants and most of them come to America to have a life, so we shouldnt deport them to the country they were running from, but help them, and use them to create a better society for us.

HW# 2 John McCain (Homeownership Resurgence Plan) The McCain Resurgence Plan will be meant to help families struggling with their homes and in danger of losing their homes through foreclosure. This plan intends to buy the mortgages right off from the homeowners and then replace those mortgages with new affordable rates depending on the family’s income. John McCain stated that "It is important that those families who have worked hard enough to finance homeownership not have that dream crushed under the weight of the wrong mortgage." Although I am not a republican, I do agree with this plan because it will help bring relief to families that are struggling to make ends meat and help restore the housing market. If the government can afford to bail out all the big corporations that got into this economical mess because of their greediness and their preying upon the homeowners for mortgages so that they can get richer, then the government should be more than willing to help save the homeowners that are about to lose their homes because of the greed of a bank. In reality, the homeowner is the victim because it was the bank that agreed to lend the money for a mortgage. An institution should know its risks, and therefore be able to measure whether or not a loan is going to default. It also should be able to review the borrower’s application and background for possible indicators. By: Angelique Robles

McCain views on Life

McCains wants to protect families by promoting adoption and protecting marriages. By promoting adoption families are able to add more to their family and protecting marriages, so families don't break apart. I believe that like not givign a choice for families isnt a healthy family, like for example if a family has an unhealthy relationship, i believe that it should be a valid reason to break them apart. John McCain believes the institution of marriage is a union between one man and one woman. It is only this definition that sufficiently recognizes the vital and unique role played by mothers and fathers in the raising of children, and the role of the family in shaping, stabilizing, and strengthening communities and our nation. McCain believes in the tradition love but like in modern day love, everyone just hurries to find soemone to be with. McCain is also protecting children from internet pornography. John McCain has been a leader in pushing legislation through Congress that requires all schools and libraries receiving federal subsidies for Internet connectivity to utilize technology to restrict access to sexually explicit material by children using such computers. I agree with this view because too many kids are going on the internet to look at porn but even if this is true i believe that if you band something, people ususally want them more. McCains views are half wrong and half right but he has his views that i somewhat support.

A very controversial issue that has been debated many times is the 2nd amendment which talks about the people’s right to bear arms. Many people own guns and a result more crimes are committed. According to john mccain’s website, John McCain believes that the right of law abiding citizens to keep and bear arms is a fundamental, individual Constitutional right that we have a sacred duty to protect. John McCain believes that every firearms owner has a responsibility to learn how to safely use and store the firearm they have chosen, whether for target shooting, hunting, or personal protection. He has supported legislation requiring gun manufacturers to include gun safety devices such as trigger locks in product packaging. John McCain opposes the confiscation of firearms from private citizens, particularly during times of crisis or emergency. He voted in favor of an amendment sponsored by Senator David Vitter prohibiting such confiscation. John McCain believes in strict, mandatory penalties for criminals who use a firearm in the commission of a crime or illegally possess a firearm. Enforcing the current laws on the books is the best way to deter crime. I agree with McCain on certain parts of his plan. I agree with the part that says firearms owner has a responsibility to learn how to safely use and store the firearm they have chosen. Also I agree on his idea that a strict, mandatory penalty should be in place for criminals who use a firearm in the commission of a crime or illegally possess a firearm.
